The Promise of Commercial Spaceflight

The era of commercial spaceflight is upon us. From suborbital tourist flights to space aboard companies like Virgin Galactic and XCOR, to orbital flights to the International Space Station and Bigelow space stations, to the development of low-cost crew taxies to low Earth orbit, to manned expeditions to the Moon and Mars, commercial spaceflight is flowering. In the process it’s creating an access revolution for spaceflight that is as profound for space as the development of the personal computer was to the computing and Internet industries. In this presentation I will review the full range of coming commercial spaceflight systems and capabilities, focusing in particular on those being created or exploited here in Colorado.
