Some Definitions
Tisserand Parameter:
Approximation of the Jacobi constant.
Encounter velocity
T > 3
not planet crossing.
If
T > 2.83
then planet cannot eject object.
Ecliptic Comets:
T > 2
and not on stable Kuiper belt orbits.
Jupiter-family comets:
2 < T < 3
.
But,
median T = 2.8!
When comparing models with observations only include
q < 2.5AU
.
`Visible'
comets.
Tend to be roughly 1km.
Centaurs:
5 < a < 30AU.
Tend to be roughly larger than tens of km.
Scattered disk objects:
a > 30AU.
Tend to be larger than ~50km.
Size difference is due to observational selection.
