SWIFT and VMS

We do not support SWIFT for VMS. However, Sandy Keiser of DTM have written a version for VMS, which we are distributing. We do not know anything about this version of SWIFT and thus cannot take responsibility for it. Any questions about VMS specific applications should be directed to her at keiser@dtm.ciw.edu.

Here is the email that accompanied this version of swift:

The archive was created on a Digital Alpha 3000/300LX using OpenVMS 1.5-1H1 with VMSTAR from around 1994. I realize that these are old versions, so please let me know if that causes problems.

VMSTAR is available from the anonymous ftp site ftp.digital.com as pub/VMS/vmstar-axp.exe and vmstar-vax.exe or from the www page

The four compilation errors which were generated by OPEN statements using the default UNKNOWN status are listed in COMPILATION.ERRORS of the SWIFT root directory, but they can be ignored.

I also created MAKE_VMS.COM which simply compiles each routine, creates a library, and links the executables. Basically, I just changed the include lines to show [-] rather than ../ which unix uses since that seemed the simplest way to get the program to run. The unix versions aren't included, but it's easy enough to do so if that's preferable.

This tar file should work on any machine running VMS. I'll be happy to try to help anyone who runs into trouble with it.
