Solar System Science and Exploration Division

About

Sarah Auriemma is a Research Analyst in the Department of Space Operations within the Solar System Science and Exploration Division of Southwest Research Institute. Her work focuses on spacecraft mission operations and ground systems, including ground-software development and integration, spacecraft commanding and telemetry, and the development of data-processing pipelines. She currently supports two missions: CubiXSS, a solar-science CubeSat, where she has led ground-software readiness; and QuickSounder, a NOAA pathfinder mission, where she designed the data-processing pipeline. Her work spans flight-software integration, mission operations and spacecraft communications, and Python-based data systems.

Sarah holds a B.S. in Physics from Bridgewater State University, where she focused on optics and wrote her thesis on ground-based spectral observations of the 2019 total solar eclipse in Chile, and an M.S. in Physics/Space Science from the University of New Hampshire, where her thesis examined CME and shock-front angles and their effects on Earth’s magnetosphere. Before joining SwRI in 2025, she worked at CIRES/NOAA on data analysis for space weather missions.
