Kandis Lea Jessup

About

Dr. Jessup is an observational astronomer and has led multiple international ground-based observing teams. She has also led or participated in multiple remote sensing and in-situ instrument and mission concept study teams, as either a P.I., co-I or project/instrument scientist. Dr Jessup has over 25 years of experience studying atmospheres throughout the solar system, and is an expert on the atmospheres of Venus, Io, Pluto and Triton. Her research identifies and investigates links between the atmosphere, surface and interior geology, solar radiation and the evolution of habitability at each planet/moon. Since 2022, Dr. Jessup has been an active member of the ESA/NASA EnVision Venus Mission Science Team, supporting both the VenSpec (UV to IR spectrometer suite) and VenSAR (radar instrument) science teams. Additionally, since 2010 Dr. Jessup has served as an active member of JAXA led Akatsuki Venus Mission Science Team. Dr. Jessup received a BA in Physics from Earlham College and a PhD in Atmospheric and Space Science from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor.
