Bibhuti Kumar Jha is a Research Scientist in the Solar System Science and Exploration Division at Southwest Research Institute in Boulder, working in the areas of solar physics, data science, and artificial intelligence. His research focuses on understanding the Sun’s magnetic activity and its variability, magnetic reconnection, and spectropolarimetry using observations and numerical simulations. He develops automated tools for analyzing large solar datasets and frameworks to improve space weather forecasting capabilities. Bibhuti received his B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in Physics from the University of Delhi, New Delhi, India, and his Ph.D. in Physics from Pondicherry University, Puducherry, India. As part of his doctoral research, he developed an automated algorithm to identify solar magnetic features in multiwavelength solar observations and investigated the theory of the solar convection zone. In addition to his research, he develops open-source software and computational workflows that support reproducible scientific analysis and facilitate collaboration within the heliophysics community through open science.
