Ground-based Images of Hale-Bopp and the Shuttle Discovery!

©Gordon Garradd

This ground-based image was taken by Gordon Garradd in Loomberah, Australia. The image is a 5 minute + 12 second exposure on hypered Kodak Gold III film using a 180mm f/2.8 lens. The comet Hale-Bopp is shown at the bottom of the image; the two streaks along the top are the Space Shuttle Discovery and the CRISTA-SPAS free-flying experiment that was also flown on the STS-85 shuttle mission. Here is a larger, more detailed version of the image.

For more comet images, see Gordon Garradd's homepage.
