Feeding Young Giant Planets: Observational Constraints and 3D Modeling of Circumplanetary Disks

Circumplanetary disks are the birthplaces of satellite systems and play a central role in shaping giant planet growth. In this talk, I will provide an overview of recent observational efforts to detect and characterize CPDs around young planets embedded in their natal circumstellar environments. I will highlight high-resolution millimeter-wave observations targeting circumplanetary dust emission as well as planet-induced kinematic perturbations in the surrounding gas. Finally, I will present new 3D multi-fluid hydrodynamic simulations designed to model dust transport from the circumstellar disk into the circumplanetary region, with a specific focus on the benchmark PDS 70 system.
