Dr. Robin Canup has been chosen as a recipient of the 2004 James B. Macelwane Medal of the American Geophysical Union. The Macelwane Medal was established in 1961 by the AGU to recognize signficant contributions to the geophysical sciences by an outstanding young scientist.
Macelwane, the thirteenth president of AGU (1953-1956), was renowned not just for his contributions to geophysics but also for his deep interest in teaching and encouraging young scientists.
