I was raised in the foothills of Northern California by a retired Air Force major architect and a book store owner. I received my BA in Astrophysics from the University of California, Berkeley, where I also met my partner Ben. We moved to Boulder, CO to attened graduate school at the University of Colorado. Ben was a fellow Astrophysics major, and is now working on his PhD. from the department of Atmospheric and Oceanic Science, focusing on arctic climate change. We have bought a house that will be finished, hopefully, at the end of August. You can watch it be built in my pictures.
Most of my hobbies concern the outdoors: backpacking, hiking, camping, kyaking, snow-shoeing, and doglsedding. Although I have been interested in dogsledding since adolescents, I was trained as a musher in my senior year of high school and have been running other people's dog teams whenever I can ever since. I hope this summer to get some sled dog muts of my own and train to pulk and ski-jor, and also perhaps do sprints for competition. I am also currently taking guitar lessons, Hebrew lessons, and rock-climbing lessons.
I have traveled to Germany, Chile, and Israel. I would really like to go back to Israel and bicycle the length of the country (it's not that long). Alaska is one of my favorite places in the United States; I have travelled there five times. This past summer, Ben and I drove to Alaska (yes, drove) and worked there at the State Fire Warehouse. We did some wonderful manual labour for two months and then traveled around Alaska and Canada, going backpacking, kyaking, and to many hot springs.
