Supplemental data: Mg-Fe olivine emissivity spectra

Hamilton, V.E. (2010) Thermal infrared (vibrational) spectroscopy of Mg-Fe olivines: A review and applications to determining the composition of planetary surfaces, Chemie der Erde, 70,doi:10.1016/j.chemer.2009.12.005.

These data accompany the above-referenced paper and include emissivity spectra of intermediate olivine compositions in the Mg-Fe series. Additionally, these spectra, and emissivity spectra of end member compositions (forsterite and fayalite), may be found in the Arizona State University spectral library.

The file linked below is in space-delimited ascii format. The header contains a citation to the original publication in which the spectra are documented and analyzed. Data are arranged as columns, with the first column being the x-axis in wavenumbers (cm-1) and subsequent columns being the emissivities of the olivine compositions in the order listed at the top of the file. Please refer to Hamilton [2010] for information on sample chemistry and the collection, calibration, and subsequent processing of the emissivity spectra. Additional information about the spectra may also be found in Koeppen and Hamilton [2008], and chemical information also is available in Morse [1996].
