Binary Star Could the structure of the Kuiper belt be a result of an early stellar binary companion?

• Most stars are thought for form in binaries (Kohler & Leinert).
  
  
• Many of these systems are disrupted early on (Kroupa).
  
  
• If the Sun formed in such a system, could this explain the KB?
  
  
• The experiment:
  • Integrated the orbits of the giant planets and KBOs in a system with a binary.
  • The KBOs were initially in low inclination orbits wrt the giant planets.
  • The companion was 1 solar mass, in a circular orbit with an inclination of 20^O.
  • Varied the semi-major axis of the star.
  
  
• A star with a~1000AU can produce the inclinations that we see.
  • However, Neptune's orbit becomes too inclined if it is at 30AU.
  • But, its orbit is OK is in the pre-migrated location at 24AU.
  
  
• This works because:
  • The particles precess about the angular momentum vector of the binary's orbit.
  • However, the planets precess as a ridged disk.
  
  
• The issue is:
  1. Since star is there at t=0, can we grow the KNOs?
