Department Researchers Explore Saturn with Cassini

November 29, 2004

Two Department of Space Studies researchers Dr. Luke Dones and Dr. John Spencer are members of the Cassini science team that is exploring Saturn using the Cassini spacecraft that entered orbit there in July. Dr. Dones is a member of the Cassini Imaging Team, concentrating primarily on studies of Saturn's ring dynamics. Dr. Spencer is a member of the Composite Infrared Spectrometer team, concentrating primarily on studies of the thermal properties of the icy satellites of Saturn. Cassini's multi-year orbital tour of the Saturnian system is expected to last until at least 2008.
