A simple crater on the moon

Explanation: Image of a mile (1.2 kilometer) simple crater on Earth's moon. The wide bench on its interior wall has been used to infer that the moon’s surface in this area consists of a weak layer about miles (100 meters) thick, overlying a more resistant rock unit. Tomorrow: a nested crater on Pluto.
